Our first 2019 Patient of the Month is Kaitlin Wilson. Kaitlin first came to OrthoCore because of continuing issues from a partial tear of her patellar tendon. “I returned to PT for postpartum issues, most specifically diastasis recti.”
Kaitlin’s course of treatment here at OrthoCore is dry needling or cupping followed by manual work and help stretching from Kristi, followed by strengthening exercises that Kristi assigns to her. “Kristi also helped design an at home stretching and strengthening program so that I can work on my exercises at home as well.”
When asked if she had noticed improvement or reduction in her injury and discomfort, she answered, “ABSOLUTELY! I am so much stronger now than I used to be, even after having another child. I have been able to continue to pursue running and training for road races, which has always been a passion of mine. It has been wonderful to be able to run pain and injury free, while knowing that I can check in with someone as knowledgeable and compassionate as Kristi to make sure that I stay that way.”
With the results that she is getting from the program, Kaitlin is happy to be able to do more in her day-to-day life. “It sounds silly, but I can walk up and down stairs much more comfortably than I could before starting at OrthoCore. That was a huge issue that was never resolved until I started to see Kristi. I'm also able to comfortably play with and pick up my children now that I have worked on my core strength.”
Kaitlin was not new to PT when she came to OrthoCore and she was more than happy with the difference that she found here. “As a high school and collegiate runner, I have gone to PT for many years, in all different places depending on where I was living. Ortho Core is SO patient friendly. Treatment is individualized, and the WHOLE person is looked at, not just the specific injury. I have never once felt like I'm ‘on the clock’ during an appointment, which has been the case at other places I've been to. Kristi makes sure that you feel better walking out than you did walking in and it's an amazing skill to be able to do that. Their staff is wonderful in setting up appointments and dealing with billing issues. Part of the reason I've been able to stick with PT for so long is how convenient their staff makes being able to get in and be seen, and how family friendly they are.”
Kaitlin continues, “I enjoy knowing that each time I leave, I am doing something to make me stronger. It makes me feel better physically and emotionally - knowing that I am now in a cycle where instead of feeling like I am going to have to be reactive to an injury, I am strong enough to be proactive in preventing injuries and feeling better. I also feel empowered as a woman in the postpartum phase that there are things that can be done to alleviate issues that for years mothers were just told were ‘normal’ after having children. It makes me happy that this is where we are hopefully headed so that more women can return to normal activity after birth than in the past. My final word is that I would 100% recommend OrthoCore to any friends or family considering PT.”
Thank you, Kaitlin! We are so glad that you are pleased!
